Tuscan tile

part 1

Here are the first explanations necessary to realize this project.

As you may have noticed, this is a major undertaking and will take some time to complete.

I know that each of you likes to work at her own pace and available time.

So I’m going to unfold this project by offering in each article explanations and detailed photos of a particular pattern without necessarily embroidering the whole thing.

This will allow the development of the project to be freely available over the weeks.

For my part, like you, I don’t think I’ll have the time to complete a whole design from one week to the next but I will regularly publish the progress of my work so that you can judge the effect obtained during the embroidery progression.

So today we start with explanations about the center of the pattern.

I used the House of Embroidery colors Verdon 87 and Brass 46 as well as the DMC 996 and 162 threads.

For this little round design, I used the colors Verdon for the center and 162 for the turn. Unfortunately, I don’t have a detailed picture of it because I embroidered it before starting the explanations. The center is made in the same way as the round motifs that will follow and the border is in Palestrina stitch with 3 threads.

Carefully underline all designs with 1 thread split backstitch.

Pad these patterns generously with 3 threads.

Now cover them with a nice even 1 thread satin stitch.

Finish each design by wrapping a row of backstitches with 2 threads.

For these triangular patterns, proceed in the same way as above, starting with the split backstitch.

Then proceed to the padding…

…then cover them with the satin stitch

Outline each design in chain stitch with 2 threads.

To finish, embroider a row of back stitches with 2 threads by placing them in each stitch of the chain.
