Sweet Alphabet

This article features the embroidery of a charming and very simple alphabet.

It is made with 3 stitches only, a stem stitch for the body of the letter, a split backstitch to outline the motifs to be filled, and a satin stitch to fill these motifs.

It’s embroidered with DMC stranded cotton and colors 4065, 926, 369, 3607 and 316.

A complete 5-page file containing all the letters can be downloaded HERE.

Then simply transfer the letters to the fabric, adjusting their size to your wishes.

The body of the letter is embroidered in stem stitch with 3 threads. After outlining the large leaves with split backstitch, fill them with a satin stitch, leaving a small empty area where the center vein is, all with 1 thread.

Work the small leaves in the same way as the large leaves. After edging the two side petals of the flower with split backstitch and 1 thread, pad them generously with 2 threads and finish by covering them with a satin stitch and 1 thread. The 3 central motifs are also made using split backstitch and 1-thread satin stitch but without padding.
