Embroidered belt

The choice of threads and patterns

Today’s subject is devoted to a project that I was asked to carry out some time ago and whose execution gives me immense pleasure.

It is all about embroidering a belt for a magnificent and very simple wedding dress of which it will be the only ornament.

By following this series of articles, you will be able to accompany the whole process of creation and realization of this work.

If you are in the mood, you will have all the elements necessary to make this belt yourself and of course I will offer a “city” and color version.

But now because of the deadline, as the wedding will take place on February 20, 2020, here is the genuine version adorned with “cream and Swarovski  pearls”, all tone on tone.

The embroidery of this belt consists of several patterns representing cherry blossoms.

It is made with Whitework technique on a light cream colored woolen fabric.

To give you a first impression, here is a sketch of the design (half belt).

Indeed, they can be used separately for other achievements.

To carry out this work, I used the following threads

  • Raw silk House of Embroidery color 31 Basket and metallic thread Au Ver à Soie color 032 n ° 4 for the flowers

  • Au Ver à Soie, Perle silk (soie perlée) cream

  • DMC 712 stranded cotton for the rest of the patterns

The beads are Swarovski crystals of 2 and 3mm in cream color
