Small varied patterns

You’ll find a series of small motifs to embroider to your heart’s content;

I intend to publish two designs per month. The downloadable drawings are about 5 cm in size, and it’s up to you to use them in their original size or enlarge them to suit your needs.

They can easily be used to embellish any kind of object or garment, and can be completed in just a few hours.

In January…

You will find below a bouquet of violets and a romantic bouquet whose designs you can download HERE.

Violets

I mainly embroidered this motif in satin stitch with 1 thread, not forgetting of course to execute a split backstitch around each petal and leaf.

The leaves are embroidered with 2 different, contrasting shades of green and DMC stranded cotton.

For the flowers, I also used 2 different purples and added a few white straight stitches in the main petal, as well as a 2-thread, 2-turn yellow French knot. The whole thing is also made from DMC stranded cotton.

To make the bow, I had fun embroidering the upper part of the loops in stem stitch with 2 mm ribbon and the remaining part of the motif in Palestrina stitch with 2 threads. To simplify the work, it’s possible to make the bow in juxtaposed stem stitch (2 rows) with 2 threads.

Romantic bouquet

The leaves of this bouquet are embroidered in leaf stitch with 1 thread.

The little flowers I’ve chosen to embroider in blue are made with satin stitch with 1 thread and finished with a 2-thread 1-turn French knot for the heart.

The roses are embroidered in 2-thread bullion stitch, following the classic construction used to embroider these flowers. The outermost petals, which are embroidered last, are made in cast-on stitch to give the roses a nice movement. Stitches are executed in 3 shades of orange, with the darkest in the center and the lightest on the outside.
