Tuscan tile

Introduction

Here is the new project that I propose to realize at the end of the holidays and that will certainly keep us busy (alternating with other less important works) until winter.

A free interpretation of this magnificent old Tuscan tile will be the pretext for the use of a whole series of varied stitches. One of the strong points of this project will be to avoid the monotony of repetitive work by varying the realizations and the colors within the same series of motifs but by taking care to maintain the cohesion of the work.

I think it’s an interesting challenge that will require some creative efforts to achieve a satisfactory result.

You will find the drawing to download HERE or as usual in the “Patterns” section of this blog’s menu.

I chose a square format of 26 cm side but it is obvious that you can adapt it freely to your wishes.

As for the colors, as is often the case in old creations, the palette is relatively restricted, due to the limited number of colors available.

Below is what I think is a first choice, but we will almost certainly add a few more threads during our work progression.

House of Embroidery stranded cotton

30 Cabbage, 87 Verdon, and 46 Brass

DMC stranded cotton

645, 3685, 3803, 3354, 996 and 162

It is obvious that this choice of color is based on the original photograph but it is up to you to use your own choice of colors!

Here are the first stitches…

And next week, you will discover the first pictures and explanations!
