Schwalm traditional design
Here are the explanations necessary to realize a Schwalm traditional design.
To do this work you will need

Linen fabric 6 counts

Perle cotton n°8

DMC thread ” Spécial à broder” n°25

Stranded cotton
In this article we will learn to embroider the outline of the design.
For this, we will use the following stitches
-
Lazy daisy stitch
-
Coral stitch
-
Palestrina stitch
-
Portuguese stem stitch
-
Satin stitch
-
Herringbone stitch

Here is a very simple diagram of the coral stitch.
I never used this stitch other than in combination with the lazy daisy stitch to achieve the outline of the patterns in this particular technique.

Trace the pattern on the fabric using a water-soluble pencil. Position it by following a straight thread of the fabric.
The stems are embroidered with Portuguese stem stitch. Birds and tulips are made with coral stitch and lazy daisy stitch. Start by embroidering the coral stitch on the outside of the pattern then the lazy daisy stitch. Use Perle cotton for this work.
The leaves are embroidered with herringbone stitch and stranded cotton 3 threads.
