Moonlight

Introduction

This short article introduces the new “Moonlight” project.

The challenge of this project lies in the ability to reproduce in embroidery the movements and “brushstrokes” so typical of the work of painter Vincent Van Gogh.

This engraving, which I found on the Internet, is not an original work by Van Gogh himself, but it appealed to me and I thought it would be interesting to work on it together, which is why I’m presenting it to you today.

To tell the truth, I don’t know how to go about it yet, so I started with what seemed to be the easiest, the stars and trees in the shadows of the night.

The stars are partly embroidered in 2-thread chain stitch for the larger ones, and in 1-thread satin stitch for the smaller ones. Trees are embroidered entirely in 1-thread long and short stitch.

I used House of Embroidery Daffodil 47A and Woodland 69A stranded cotton.
