Moonlight part 2

Trees and mountains in the background

Here are the instructions for embroidering the mountains and trees in the background.

In various shades of blue, the mountains link the relatively monochrome vastness of the sky and the multicolored fields and rivers.

Trees must be treated with care. They are the motifs that give the subject, with their prominent position, the impression of space and depth that this small landscape should provide.

The pattern for this project can be downloaded HERE or directly from the 2024 Pattern menu on this blog.

The mountains are embroidered in long and short stitch, starting with color 775, then adding 3752, and finally with color 2AB. To finish, add a few straight stitches with the color 53C to represent the shadow at the foot of the motif.

The trunks are made in long and short stitch with color 72C. Then surround each group of leaves in stem stitch with 2 threads and color 7BC. I used only one row of stem stitch for the small tree, but 2 rows side by side for the large tree.

Each pattern is then filled in long and short stitch, using the various shades of green available.

I used House of Embroidery stranded cottons 2A Morning Glory, 53C Mexico and DMC 775 and 3752 for the mountains.

To embroider the trees, I used House of Embroidery 72C Bark, 6C Privet, 7BC Periwinkle, 5A Blue Gum, and 58C Christmas Green.
