Alphabet in two versions
1st version
Here is the first interpretation of this alphabet that I will propose in several versions.
For this first work, I chose a version embroidered with a series of traditional basic stitches. The embroidery is entirely made with stranded cotton. I do not give any indication of colors because the realization of initials is a highly personal work.
The complete set of these letters can be downloaded HERE or in the 2022 Patterns menu.
I found this alphabet in a library dedicated to traditional whitework and the printing of the characters is not of first quality. I advise you, as I did myself, to make a photocopy of the character you have chosen to embroider, enlarge it to the desired size (the one shown here is 10 cm), and redraw it before transferring it to your fabric.
You will find below pictures and explanations of each part of this letter. They are valid for all the characters of this alphabet.
The body of the letter is made with 2 rows of 2 threads stem stitch and the inner part is filled in with long and short stitch 1 thread.
I chose to embroider the dots that appear in this design using a ribbed spider web stitch and 2 threads. To do this you must first stretch the threads that will support the weaving as shown in this photo.
To embroider the flowers, start with the stem in stem stitch with 2 threads and continue with the leaves in fishbone stitch with 1 thread. Embroider the petals of the flower in blanket stitch with 2 threads and the center in French knots with 2 threads and 2 wraps.
