Alphabet in two versions

2nd version

Here is a second embroidery proposal for this alphabet.

I chose to realize this letter in a classic way by respecting all the codes of the “Whitework technique” such as we can see it on the linen of the trousseaux patiently realized by our grandmothers.

To give this work a contemporary look, I simply added a touch of color using the DMC colors B5200, 422 and 613.

In case you haven’t downloaded it yet, this complete alphabet is still available in the “Patterns 2022” menu.

In 2018, I published an article entitled “Introduction to Whitework”.

It can be found in the menu Techniques under Whitework.

If you are a novice in this technique, I advise you to consult it because you will find all the basic explanations necessary to easily achieve satisfactory work.

The explanations below are specifically aimed at the realization of this letter.

Mark the edge of each design as precisely as possible in backstitch with 1 thread.

Generously pad the inside of the designs with large straight stitches and 3 threads. Mark the thinner parts of the letter with a backstitch and 4 threads.

Cover the whole work with satin stitch 1 thread.

Proceed in the same way for each pattern.

I embroidered the small striped designs with 3 stitches in color 422 then 6 stitches in color 613 and again 3 stitches in color 422 to finish.
