Needle painted Dahlia
Here is a photo of the Dahlia that we are going to embroider in needle painting. I interpreted it using my colored pencils and then watercolored it to be able to define the colors more easily.
You will find the design of this project to download HERE and also the list of colors used to embroider this project.
I used the abbreviation AVS to designate Soie d’Alger du Ver à Soie and simply DMC for DMC stranded cotton.
You will find the list of these colors to download alongside the drawing to allow you to select your colors according to the quality of the thread you have chosen.
For my part, I decided to carry out this project in Soie d’Alger, so the colors mentioned in the explanations are those of the Ver à Soie and in parentheses appear the corresponding colors of DMC.
Below you will find explanations and photos of the first 9 petals of this dahlia.
Exceptionally, I have not prepared a file containing the complete numbering of the petals due to their high number. For greater clarity, I prefer to designate them specifically in each article.
Before embroidering each petal, it is imperative to underline it with a split backstitch stitched with 1 thread.
Petal n°1
Embroider the left part of the pattern with color 2511 (3047), the right part with color 622 (728) and finish by embroidering the lower part with colors 624 (741) AND 936 (326).
Petal n°2
It is fully embroidered with color 622 (728). Replace the turquoise vein with color 231 (369). It was a mistake…
Petal n°3
It is mainly made with color 2511 (3047). Then add color 622 (728) and finish with a few dots with color 624 (741).
Petal n°4
The entire upper part of the petal is filled with color 622 (728). Then add color 624 (741) in the lower part and finish with color 936 (326). Shade the left side part of the petal with the same color 936 (326).
Petal n°5
The top of the petal is embroidered with color 2511 (3047) and then lightly covered with color 231 (369). Finish the bottom part of the pattern with color 622 (728).
Petal n°7
It is entirely embroidered with color 2511 (3047).
Petal n°8
