Needle painted Dahlia Part 2

 

Here is a photo of the dahlia that we are going to embroider in needle painting. I interpreted it using my colored pencils and then watercolored them to be able to define the colors more easily.

You will find the pattern and the list of threads used for this project to download in the first article dedicated to this project.

Below you will find explanations and photos of 12 new petals located all in the upper right part of the flower.

Exceptionally, I have not prepared a file containing the complete numbering of the petals due to their high number. For greater clarity, I prefer to designate them specifically in each article.

Before embroidering each petal, it is imperative to underline it with a split backstitch done with 1 thread.

 

Petal n°1

Embroider the upper part of the petal with color 622 (728), then continue with color 624 (741) and finish by embroidering the lower part with color 936 (326).

 

 

Petal n°2 and 3

Petals 2 and 3 are entirely made with color 2511 (3047).

Petal n°4

For petal #4, use colors 622 (728), 2511 (3047), 624 (741), B912 (3340) and 936 (326).

Petal n°5

It is entirely made with color 2511 (3047).

Petal n°6

Use colors 624 (741) for the top of the petal and color 4542 (436) for the bottom.

Petal n°7

This petal is made with colors 133 (3845) and 4924 (3842).

 

 

 

Petal n°8

Using small touches, mix colors 231 (369), 624 (41), 622 (728) and 4542 (436).

Petal n°9

Start with color 133 (3845) then add color 4924 (3842)

Petal n°10

This small petal in the background is embroidered with color 934 (349), then add a few stitches with color 936 (326) at the left end of the pattern.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Petal n°11

Start by embroidering the entire upper half of the petal with color 624 (741). Continue by adding color 934 (349) and finish with color 2511 (3047). Add a few stitches with color 936 (326) at the junction of colors 934 and 2511.

 

Petal n°12

Start making this petal with color 934 (349), continue with color 624 (741), and finish with color 622 (728). Add a few stitches with color 936 (326) in the upper part of the surface and embroider the reverse side of the petal with color 2511 (3047).
