The blue Vase and the first flower

This chapter is devoted to the continuation of the “Blue Vase” project, and is divided into 2 parts.

In the first are simply 2 new photos describing further work in the vase itself.

In the second section, you’ll find all the explanations and photos you need to create your first flower.

Here are 2 photos of the continued embroidery of the vase.

The Vase

Continue embroidering the central flower as described in the first article.

Embroider the edges of the design in stem stitch and the decoration in straight stitch, all with 2 threads and color 791 (4916).

The first flower

List of colors used to embroider this flower

DMC stranded cotton 211, 3836, 3726, 3803, 718, 814, 3752, 791

Soie d’Alger 3311, 3312, 4634, 3046, 3044, 4636, 131, 1345

To embroider this part of the flower, I started with the top petal using colors 3726 (4634) and 3803 (3046). I then embroidered the bottom petal with the color 814 (4636). I finished with the 2 small bias petals, embroidering the bottom one with colors 211 (3311) and 3836 (3312) and the top one with colors 3836 (312), 3726 (4634), and 718 (3044).

Embroider this petal, starting at the top with color 211 (3311), continuing with color 3836 (3312), and finishing with color 3726 (4634).

This central petal is embroidered in the same colors as the previous one.

Respecting the direction of the stitches, to make the leftmost petal, use the same colors as in the 2 previous petals and then underline the lower part of the last petal with split backstitch and color 814 (4636).

Embroider this last petal in 2 parts, the lower with color 814 (4636) and the upper with color 718 (3044). Fill in the empty part of the design with star-shaped straight stitches and color 3752 (131).

To finish, embroider the flower’s heart with a satin stitch and color 3752 and add a few star-shaped straight stitches around it with color 791 (1345).
