Sweet Tulip

part 5

In this article, you’ll find a new series of petals to make, with photos and explanations.

The petals we’ll be embroidering today are the drooping petals at the bottom of the flower, which are already slightly wilted. I’ve added 2 new DMC threads, colors 154 and 413, to our assortment.

This part of the flower is a little tricky to make, so I suggest you follow the written instructions for color distribution and look closely at the photos for the correct placement of the stitches.

With the help of the photo, first lay the white thread.

Then, add colors 169 and 758 to the petal tip. Color 963 is applied in the middle and on the lower edge of the design. Then, place colors 154 and 816 in the lower, still empty part of the surface, following the example in the photo.

Now fill the underside of the petal with white, respecting the direction of the stitches, and finish by adding the new grey color 413 at the root of the petal.

To embroider the middle petal, proceed as follows: start by working the top edge of the design, applying a few stitches with colors 919 and 3827. Continue by embroidering a fairly large area with grey 169.

Add a few stitches with 961 and finish with 963 and 154.

Finish this with color 8722 and embroider the reverse with colors 746 and 169.

Start the lower petal on the right-hand side with color 3722, followed by a few stitches of color 758 and 3827.

For the left side of the pattern, use colors 3722, 169, 816, and 919, following the placement shown in the photo.

Finish by filling the underside of the petal with color 3827. Add a few stitches with colors 169, 921, and 963 to the top of the petal. Finish with a few white stitches transversely to mark a separation between the petal and its reverse.
