The ribbed spider web stitch has a raised effect and can be used as a very decorative piece in your embroidery.

Start by embroidering a star having a variable number of branches with straight stitch, it will be used as a template. For this example, we will use a 8 branch star. To embroider the spider itself, pull the thread out between 2 branches, right in the middle, then start to stitch you spider around. Slip the needle below the two branches surrounding your thread going backward as indicated on the blueprint (4 and 1, then 1 and 7 and 6) and so on till you will have covered every branch. Finish by inserting the thread below the spider.
