Provence

The path and the right side of the fields

In this fourth stage of the Provence project, we first turn our attention to the path that gently winds its way between the cypress trees and structures the entire landscape. This path is essential and invites us to enter into the composition.

We will then address the surrounding fields, which I have deliberately divided into three distinct areas to convey the depth of the landscape and structure the work.

The first part, in the distance, remains slightly blurred, as if bathed in light, suggesting the immensity of the Provençal countryside without detailing every element.

Next comes the middle zone, where lavender and sunflowers take center stage. This is where the colors intensify and the landscape truly comes to life.

Finally, we will finish with the grass bordering the path, where textures and shades are treated with greater precision to reinforce the impression of proximity and relief.

Here are the colors I used to create these different elements

To guide you in making them, here are some close-up photos.

The path

The sides of the path are embroidered using long and short stitch with 1 strand of DMC 4150 thread. The grass in the center is embroidered using the blanket stitch in a semicircle with DMC 4070 thread and 2 strands. It is recommended to embroider this design from top to bottom.

The fields, far away

They are embroidered with long and short stitch using 1 strand of DMC 924 and House of Embroidery 24A, 24C, and 67A.

The fields, central flowered part

Embroider the flowers using lazy daisy stitch with 2 strands of DMC colors 792 and 746, House of Embroidery 38C, 2A, 89A, and 11A. Use House of Embroidery color 7C and 2-strand straight stitches to cover the ground surrounding the flowers.

The fields, grasses lining the path

This is the part located furthest forward in the landscape. To represent the undulations of the grass, I embroidered sinuous lines using stem stitch with two strands of thread in DMC colors 4070 and 924, as well as House of Embroidery colors 67C and 7C.
