Needlecase “Flowerbed”, exterior mounting

Here’s how to assemble the outside of the 2 parts of this needle holder.

I’ve gone to great lengths to describe the procedure in detail, with plenty of photos for easy assembly.

List of materials required for this assembly (exterior and interior parts)

a piece of fabric for the inside of the needle holder (approx. 20×30 cm)a piece of thick paper or card for the pattern
a piece of thick Vlieseline (I use S520 quality) or any other material that can stiffen your needle holder
a piece of medium-thick wadding
a can of repositionable glue
pins, thread and a sewing needle
water-soluble pencil
textile glue, e.g. Güterman HT2

Cut out the various parts needed for assembly in the multiple fabrics

First download and print the needle holder design HERE on thick paper or even a card and cut it out. This will be your pattern throughout the assembly, then cut out the different pieces.

Assembly

Place the tracing paper over the embroidery area, positioning it evenly.

Mark the pattern outline with the erasable pencil and cut out the embroidery, leaving 1cm around the layer.

Place pins on the pencil mark, then turn the work to have the embroidery area on the outside.

Place a piece of wadding on the reverse side of the embroidery, using the pins as markers. Then add a piece of Vlieseline on top of the wadding.

Apply approx. 0.5 cm of textile glue around the Vlieseline and carefully glue and fold the fabric.

One of the outer parts of the needle holder is now complete.

In the last article on this subject, we’ll prepare the inside of the needle holder, assemble the 2 parts and finish by adding the clasp.
