Needle painted Tulips

Flower n°1

Petals 1 to 3

Petal n°1

You will notice that the colors 893 and 3833, as well as 819 and 225, are relatively similar. I often use them quite close to each other. If in the photos you do not necessarily distinguish the shades, the end result will be that of a very “lively” embroidery because of the interaction of these very similar tones.

To achieve the desired effect I added the color 760 to get a smoother transition in the shades of pink.

I’m sorry, but in a project so rich in color, it is not rare to fumble a little at first to find the right colors …

To embroider this petal, I used the colors 221, 893, 3833, 760, 225, 819 and 742.

As usual, surround the top of the petal with split backstitch 1 thread in a neutral color (eg 225).

Start by embroidering a few stitches with the color 221.

Continue with color 893.

Finish the top of the petal with the color 3833.

Extend the work down with color 225.

Fill in empty parts with color 819.

Now use the new 760 color to finish the petal.

I also added a few stitches with the same color between the dark pink of the beginning and the lighter ones to soften the transition.

Add a few stitches with the 742 color for the finishing touch.

Petal n°2

For this petal I used the colors 221, 893, 3833, 760, 742 and 3078.

For this little piece of petal I used the color 893.

Add some stitches with color 221.

Surround now the top of the petal with split backstitch 1 thread in a neutral color (e.g. 225).

Start by embroidering a few stitches with the color 3833.

Continue with color 760.

Extend with color 3078.

Then with the color 742.

Finish the petal by embroidering a few stitches with the colors 3833 and 221.

Petal n°3

For this petal I  also had to add 2 new colors, the pink 224 and the yellow 725.

I used colors 902, 304, 3831, 3833, 760, 225, 224, 746, 3078, 725, 742 and 369.

Surround the top of the petal with split backstitch 1 thread with color 760.

Embroider the first stitches with the color 3833.

Continue with color 760.

Embroider a few stitches with the color 225 in the right corner at the bottom of the petal.

Extend color 760 previously set by color 224.

Continue with color 746.

And color 3078.

And then color 742.

Finish the center of the petal with color 369.

Fill the lower part of the petal which will be in the shadow of the fifth petal with some stitches in the colors 3831 and 902.

Looking at the final result I decided to add some stitches with the color 304 to give more depth to the edge of the petal and some stitches with the color 725 to soften the transition between the colors 3078 and 742.
