Fantasy flower

Large flower at the bottom right of the design

In the article below are the explanations needed to embroider the first petals of the large flower at the bottom of the design.

These petals are worked according to the same principle, in “layers”, as the large petals made in the main flower, at the beginning of this work.

Petals

upper part of the flower (6)

After outlining the petal with the usual backstitch, embroider the upper part with long and short stitch and color 963.

Shade the edge of the petal with irregular straight stitches and color 899.

Continue to build the petal in the same way as for the petals of the main flower, in “layers” and always with the colors 963 and 899.

Use the split backstitch and color 3803 to outline the different parts of the petal and to give it the necessary depth.

Completely fill in the 2 small side petals with long and short stitch and the color 3820.

Add a few straight stitches with colors 899 and 3803 to finish these small parts. Continue embroidering adjacent petals in the same manner.

Finish the work on the upper left side of the flower.

Now embroider the petal on the right side of the flower starting the same way as before.

Then embroider a white part with long and short stitch and the color B5200, which will bring a particular impression of light to this petal.

Finish filling the upper part of the petal with color 963.

Continue working as before, adding color 899 to highlight the edges.

Finish filling the petal and outline it with color 3803.

This series of petals is now complete.
