Fantasy flower

Large flower completed

In the article below are the explanations necessary to complete the realization of the main flower of this project.

and as always the traditional reminder…

I remind you that to obtain a beautiful result with patterns made in the satin or long and short stitch, it is recommended to first outline them in backstitch with 1 thread.

The long and short stitch and the satin stitch are always made with 1 thread. Decorative stitches are sometimes done with 2 threads but this will be indicated in the explanations.

After outlining the upper part of the petal in split backstitch with 1 thread and color 3822, fill in the surface of the design with satin stitch up to the 1st line marked on the design.

Shade the entire edge of the petal with straight stitches of different lengths and the color 3820,1 thread.

Now outline the inner part of the petal with split backstitch 1 thread and the color B5200, then fill in the center part of the petal with the same color and satin stitch.

Fill in the still empty part of the petal with straight stitches and color 963.

Finish with 2 or 3 straight stitches and color 899 at the base of the pattern. Underline the edge of the petal with a backstitch using 1 thread and color 730.

The side petals are now finished and it is necessary to embroider first the calyx before finishing with the central petal.

Embroider the upper part of the calyx with satin stitch and underline the lower part with split backstitch, all with the color 966 and 1 thread.

Now shade the upper part of the calyx with straight stitches and color 163. Partially embroider the lower part of the pattern with 1 thread and color 966.

Finish the bottom of the calyx with 1 thread and color 163. Separate the 2 parts of the pattern with a backstitch and color 163.

The lower part of the flower is now finished.
