When the project gets its name

This article marks the conclusion of the project you’ve watched come to life over the past few weeks.

It was while embroidering the countless leaves that bring the entire composition to life and tie it all together that the title came to me naturally:

Dance of Flowers and Foliage

The foliage is undoubtedly the element that gives this composition its unique character and sense of movement.

It was created using a wide range of greens, some with a hint of blue, others brighter and leaning toward yellow, complemented by several gradient threads that subtly blend all these shades.

The leaves’ wide variety of shapes, their shifting orientation, and their constant interweaving create a veritable whirlwind of foliage. This succession of movement and contrast gives the design a sense of life and spontaneity, as if the whole were animated by a gentle breeze sweeping through the embroidery.

The threads

The richness of this color palette also plays a key role in the project’s atmosphere.

The silks from Au Ver à Soie and the variegated raw silk threads from House of Embroidery lend the piece a unique depth and intensity. Their luminosity, subtle variations, and soft sheen make each leaf shimmer in a different way, even within very similar shades.

The leaves

These close-ups allow us to better appreciate the diversity of shapes and colors that bring the entire composition to life.

With its bright greens, bluish hues, and variegated threads, each leaf contributes to the lively rhythm of the pattern.

The contrasts between warm greens, bluish hues, and variegated leaves give the foliage its richness and luminosity.

The large, full-bodied leaves add depth and movement to the entire composition.

The small clovers and more delicate foliage lighten the design and create subtle transitions between the different embroidered areas.

The large flowers emerge from the foliage as if carried by a surge of greenery in myriad shades of green.

The intertwining of the leaves and flowers enhances the impression of a lively swirl that animates the entire embroidery.

A few touches of brighter, more golden greens add rhythm to the overall design and warm up the green palette.

I hope that through these three articles chronicling the development of this project, I have been able to share some of the thought process, decisions, and research that go into the creation of a new work.

Behind every pattern, every color, and every movement of foliage lies a great deal of work aimed at transforming a simple idea into a vibrant, harmonious composition. It is undoubtedly this slow evolution, marked by hesitation, adjustments, and intuition, that ultimately gives a project its personality and soul.

Thank you for supporting me throughout this creative process.
