A porcelain egg

part 3

The 3rd article devoted to this embroidered egg contains the explanations needed to create the upper part of the motif.

While working on this project, I realized I needed to add 3 new colors to the previously defined palette.

Here are the specifications

Soie d’Alger 1745 or DMC 3768

House of Embroidery Raw Silk 57 Iris and 2 Morning Glory

1745

S57

S2

Fill in the spaces between the stems (last photo in previous article) using satin stitch and color 131. Then, decorate this part of the egg with 2-thread 2-wrap French knots using House of Embroidery 3 and 57 silk threads.

Embroider the 2 branches and their leaves in stem stitch (1 thread) and lazy daisy stitch (2 threads) with 57 Iris silk. Embroider the thinner stems in 1-thread stem stitch and add 2-thread 1-wrap French knots to flesh them out, all with silk in color 3.

The eggshell is entirely covered with seed stitches made with 1 thread. I used colors 1811 in the lower part of the surface and 4096 in the upper part. The outline of the egg is embroidered in stem stitch with 2 threads and color 1742 for the left part of the motif.

The seed stitches on the right-hand side of the egg, in the shadow, are made with colors 1745 and 1742. The contour of this part of the motif is embroidered in stem stitch with color 1745.

Happy Easter!
