A porcelain egg
part 2
Every year, as Easter approaches, creating a new egg becomes a precious ritual, one of my favorite creative moments.
This tradition, started seven years ago, is now enriched by a new work. I’m delighted to unveil A porcelain egg I’ve chosen to celebrate Easter 2025.
In this article, you’ll find the photos and explanations you need to create the lower part of this egg, to help you embroider this project effortlessly.
Having worked with Soie d’Alger myself, I’ll use these thread numbers in my explanations, but below you’ll find a list of color matches between Soie d’Alger and stranded DMC cotton.

Start by embroidering the lower right-hand part of the egg in long and short stitch with the color 1845.
All leaves are embroidered in the same way, using a 2-thread close fly stitch with color 1823 then adding a 1-thread straight stitch with color 1845 for the veins. The flower is embroidered in satin stitch with colors 1811 and 4921, then decorated with a 1-thread straight stitch with color 4923. Add a 2-thread and one wrap French knot with color 2176 for the center. Embroider a few loose petals in satin stitch with colors 4922, 4921 and 131.
