Whispers of Spring
An ode to spring in thread and colour
Once again this year, I had the great pleasure of embroidering a new Easter egg, Whispers of Spring, which joins a collection that now numbers nine.
For me, Easter eggs, whether painted, decorated, or embroidered, remain closely linked to the bright Sunday mornings of my childhood, when the first rays of spring sunshine gently heralded the end of winter.
It carries with it a very special symbolism: that of renewal, of rediscovered light, and of the delicate transition from one season to another. It is this spirit that I wanted to capture with my needle in this new work.
In terms of design and color, I chose to cover the entire surface of the egg with thin multicolored stripes, giving it an almost bayadère feel that is both joyful and very rhythmic.
I deliberately chose a palette of soft, rich colors reminiscent of candy shades. These delicate, slightly sweet colors lend the whole design a luminous, delicate freshness.
On top of this vibrant base is a floral motif embroidered in the same harmonious colors. This two-tiered design subtly enhances its volume and gives it a particularly assertive presence.
As usual, you will find the file to download HERE to help you complete this project. It includes the print-ready pattern and a complete, detailed list of yarns, with all the information you need to organize the stripes on the bottom of the egg.
This embroidery measures 10 cm in height and is done on vanilla-colored linen. I worked mainly with DMC stranded cotton, to which I added variegated cotton threads from House of Embroidery to enrich the shades and bring more depth to the composition.
