The Hem stitch (point de Paris) is very simple to achieve for a very decorative result. It is used to fix the hems or embed a piece on another in the technique of the appliqué. It can also simply be integrated into the middle of other embroidery stitches.

This stitch is worked on the reverse side of the embroidery and from right to left. In the case where it is used to sew a hem, the threads of the fabric are tightened by 2 horizontal stitches and then with a tiny straight stitch raised in the hem. Repeat always in the same way.

In the project “a beautiful finish” the horizontal stitches are made in the drawn thread n°1 and on three threads of cloth. I use a very thin and strong thread such as glove thread.
