A Garden for Pam & Lola
The body blossoms and comes to an end
After building the cat’s body step by step, today we’ll tackle the final stage of this project by creating the hindquarters and the tail. These final elements naturally extend the movement already established and lend the whole piece its fluidity.
As in the previous steps, I chose to stick with the stitches and color palette I’ve used so far. This consistency helps maintain the harmony of the pattern, while allowing the shapes to come together to create a now-complete composition.
At this stage of the project, these final motifs gently bring the whole piece together. With the instructions already provided and the images shown here, the photos will naturally guide you as you embroider these final elements.
Rather than going over each stitch in detail, I invite you to observe the subtle nuances and the direction of the thread in these close-ups. They reveal the final adjustments, those delicate touches that bring all the parts of the pattern together and give it its final harmony.
This image shows the two hind legs, which form the foundation of the design and provide balance. They are created using long and short stitch, carefully following the lines of the drawing to capture the volume and curvature of the forms. The decorative motifs are then layered over them, following the contours of the body and blending seamlessly with the stitches and colors used previously.
This image shows the rear section of the body, located below the base of the tail.
Work continues, adapting the stitch patterns to follow the curve of the back and ensure a smooth transition with the areas already embroidered. The floral composition gradually becomes denser here, with the foliage providing structure to the whole while the flowers punctuate the surface with touches of color, maintaining the overall balance of the design.
This final image shows the creation of the tail, which extends the body’s movement and gracefully completes the silhouette.
The long and short stitch work is dynamically oriented to convey the motif’s suppleness and momentum. The floral and plant elements unfold across a wider space, creating a balance between embroidered areas and fabric, and lending the whole a sense of openness that harmoniously concludes the composition.
With each stitch, the pattern gradually took shape, with every element finding its place to form a harmonious and vibrant whole. This final touch completes the balance, creating a seamless transition between the design and the thread.
And so this project comes to an end, a project built step by step, where the interplay of colors, patterns, and materials has brought this design to life. I hope you’ve enjoyed embroidering it as much as I’ve enjoyed designing it and sharing it with you.
