Moonlight Part 5

The river and the flowers

It’s with this article that the adventure comes to an end!

It’s been a wonderful experience, forcing me to think outside the box and try to combine painting and embroidery, which is no easy task. Today, I’ve still got to add the details essential to this work’s awakening: the flowers and the river.

For the river, I’ve filled in all the empty spaces with a “water” color and outlined them with darker blue shadows.

As for the flowers, I’ve represented them with simple French knots made with 2 threads and a single wrap.

I’ve also decided to take particular care with mounting this project, framing it with a passe-partout in harmony with the atmosphere it conveys and a neutral frame in light wood.

The River

Here’s the river as we left it.

Fill all empty spaces with large straight stitches of different lengths 1 thread and color 36B.

Highlight the river banks with colors 36A and 87B. Add reflections in the water with color 53C and fill the meadow with color 69A.

To finish the river, I used the following House of Embroidery stranded cotton

The Sea 36B

Verdon 87B

Woodland 69A

Mexico 53C

The flowers

The flowers on the upper right of the meadow are embroidered with colors 4124 and 20C. Those on the lower right are embroidered with colors B5200 and 47A.

I’ve embroidered some tone-on-tone flowers with color 4075 in the upper right-hand part of the meadow and the flowers scattered over the rest of the surface are made with colors 4124, 20C, and 47A.
