Here isthe second part of the explanation dedicated to the making of this butterfly.
Below you’ll find photos and details of the work done on the lower wing, head and body.
Lower wing
Embroider this part of the wing in exactly the same way as the top wing.
Border the blue embroidered part as you have chosen to do for the upper wing. Embroider the solid background for the overlapping pastel spots, leaving empty spaces to embroider the colored spots.
Embroider the outer part of each spot using satin stitch, without having underlined it with split backstitch.
Now fill in the central part of each spot with the chosen color and in the same way as before, with no split backstitch.
Work the striped area in the same way as the upper wing.
Finish the wing edge by adding several rows of split backstitches in different shades, using just one thread.
Head and body
After underlining it with backstitch and padding it with 2 threads, embroider the head in satin stitch.
Fill the body with Turkish work and 3 threads.
After carefully trimming the part in Turkish work, embroider the antennae in stem stitch with 2 threads and add 2 small French knots in gold metallic thread to represent the eyes.
