Sweet Christmas

part 2, the final touch

In this second part, you will find the necessary explanations for the decoration of this tree.

I had, at first, imagined decorating this tree with beads and Swarowski crystals.

After a few tries, I decided to use beads for the garlands but I gave up the crystals which were too flashy and did not bring the expected result. I simply replaced them with gold metallic thread which fits much better with the spirit of this work.

The thread and the beads

I used gold thread n°4 color 002 from au Ver à Soie to complete the balls and small beads of 2mm in diameter also gold to make the garlands.

The Christmas baubles

The golden balls are made with gold thread and in the same way (spider web) as the red balls presented in the previous article.

The garlands

The garlands are made with gold beads of 2 mm in diameter.

To give these garlands an airy look I laid them out using DMC stranded cotton thread and interleaving a backstitch between each bead.

This image is from Hazel Blomkamp‘s book “Crewel birds“. I love to be inspired by her work because her creativity and knowledge are simply amazing.
