Strawberries

You will find below the explanations necessary for the realization of these strawberries.

These strawberries and their leaves are done with long and short stitch but to bring a little variety to this work, I chose a stitch that is rarely used to embroider the small leaves that form the calyx of the fruit, the cast-on stitch. You will find the “whereabouts” by following the link in the explanations.

The threads used to make this pattern are

DMC stranded cotton 702, 895, 3819, 349 and 815

The leaves are embroidered with long and short stitch and the color 702.

The center rib is done in backstitch and the side ribs are in straight stitch, all with 1 thread and color 895.

After outlining the design with a split backstitch, begin filling the strawverry with color 349.

Continue with color 815.

Finish filling the strawberry with color 349 at its end. Embroider the small seeds (achenes) with small straight stitches 1 thread and color 3819. Embroider the leaves of the calyx with cast-on stitch 2 threads and color 895.

You will find the explanations of this stitch HERE or directly in the “Stitches” menu under “Decorative stitches” and finally “Cast-on stitch”.

Embroider the remaining 2 small strawberries using the 2 shades of red and finish the calyxes with lazy daisy stitch 2 threads.
