Autumn leaves
Here you will find the necessary pictures and instructions to help you in completing the “Autumn leaves” design
It is the same instructions you will find accompanying the printed linen that you can buy as usual from HERE in our online shop. The color pictures displayed in this post are supposed to give you a clear view of the way we have embroidered each design.
The color list is included in the kit and is also available on our website.

Maple Leaves
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch with 2 threads.
The large leaves are embroidered in long and short stitch, the small leaves in fishbone stitch and the veins in straight stitch, all with 1 thread.
Beech leaves
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch with 1 thread.
The leaves are embroidered in blanket stitch with 1 thread in ” layers ” between the veins. The rolled edges are embroidered in satin stitch and the central veins in back stitch, all with 1 thread.
Hazel leaves
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch with 1 thread.
For the leaves, embroider first a blanket stitch 1 thread of about 7 mm length around each leaf. Then embroider in Cretan stitch with 2 threads encroaching on the blanket stitch and finally add a straight stitch 1 thread between each ” row ” of Cretan stitch.
I used a different color for each stitch by changing their order.
Snowberry
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch with 1 thread and the leaves in fly stitch closely spaced with 2 threads.
The berries are embroidered in satin stitch with 1 thread on a 2 threads padding. Add a French knot 2 threads 1 wrap for the stalks.
Mulberry tree
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch and the leaves in long and short stitch, all with 1 thread.
Blackberries are embroidered in French knot with 2 threads and 2 wraps with perle cotton n° 8.
Oak leaves
Embroider first the veins in Palestrina stitch with perle cotton n°8 and then fill the leaves with long and short stitch 1 thread.
For the acorns, embroider the fruits with long and short stitch 1 thread and the wells in detached buttonhole stitch with 1 thread on a dark padding with 2 threads.
Birch leaves
The stems are embroidered in stem stitch with 1 thread.
The leaves are embroidered in long and short stitch with 1 thread and in 2 different colors. The midvein is embroidered in back stitch with 2 threads.
Bee
The body is embroidered in striped Turkey work with 2 threads.
The upper wings are embroidered in satin stitch with 1 thread and the lower wings in blanket stitch with 2 threads. Add 2 small straight stitches with 1 thread for the antennas.
Insect
The body is embroidered in striped satin stitch on a 2 threads padding and the head in satin stitch, all with 1 thread.
For the wings, embroider the outline in chain stitch with 1 thread and add some stitches to decorate the interior of the wings.
The legs and antennas are embroidered in straight stitch with 1 thread.
Insect
The body is embroidered in satin stitch with 1 thread, add a French knot 2 threads 1 wrap for the head and two small straight stitches with 1 thread for the antennas.
The wings are embroidered in long and short stitch with 1 thread. The upper wings are decorated with small straight stitches 1 thread grouped to figure dots.
Insect
The body and head are embroidered in satin stitch, the legs and antennas in straight stitches all with one thread.
The forewings are embroidered in satin stitch with 1 thread, the upper wings in detached buttonhole stitch with 2 threads and outlined with a cast-on stitch with 1 thread.
