The battlement couching is a very interesting filling because it offers multiple possibilities of color combinations.<\/span><\/h1>\n

The battlement couching is made up of a series of superimposed layers of grids formed by crossed threads.<\/span><\/h1>\n

The technique is simple but requires precision for a bluffing result.<\/span><\/h1>\n

For clarity of photos and explanation, I have prepared this tutorial using # 8 Perle thread. I used 5 different colors to embroider this example. It is obvious that the effect obtained depends on the number of colors chosen. I chose to use the darkest color to make the first grid. To do this, you must first stretch the threads in one direction and then in the other. The threads do not intertwine, they are simply layered. To have enough room to place the following layers, I left a space of 5mm between the threads.<\/span><\/h4>\n

It is very important that this work is done very precisely because it conditions the correct placement of the grids which will follow.<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Start building the second grid by placing the threads of the 2nd color (here medium green) parallel to the first threads of the first grid.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Then place the threads of the second part of this grid parallel to the threads of the 2nd part of the first grid.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The new grid is slightly offset from the dark green grid.<\/span><\/h4>\n

To finish, fix the 4th grid (light orange) with a small vertical stitch (here dark orange) at each crossing of threads.<\/span><\/h4>\n

To obtain a good result, do not take any threads other than those of the last grid with the small vertical stitch and take care as much as possible not to move the threads!<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n
