Here you will find the necessary pictures and instructions to help you in completing the “Strawberries and Ipomoeas” design<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

It is the same instructions you will find accompanying\u00a0the printed linen that you can buy\u00a0as usual from\u00a0here<\/a> <\/span>in our online shop. The color pictures displayed in this post are supposed to give you a clear view of\u00a0the way we have embroidered each design.<\/span><\/h4>\n

We used 11 different stitches to complete this design<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Stem stitch, lazy daisy stitch, back stitch, split back stitch, Cretan stitch, French knot, blanket stitch, straight stitch, long and short stitch, satin stitch, double cast-on stitch.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Don\u2019t forget that each surface embroidered with satin stitch or long and short stitch\u00a0must be first encircled with a split back stitch 1 thread!<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

The stems are embroidered with stem stitch 2 threads.\u00a0The tendrils are embroidered with back stitch 2 threads<\/span><\/h4>\n

The leaves are embroidered with long and short stitch 1 thread and the veins with back stitch 2 threads and we used\u00a0House of Embroidery varigated stranded cotton\u00a0Forest 54.<\/span><\/h4>\n

For the\u00a0outside part of these\u00a0leaves we used\u00a0House of Embroidery varigated stranded cotton Holly 56 and \u00a0DMC floss cotton 368 and\u00a03346 for the inner parts and the veins.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The strawberries are embroidered with long and short stitch 1 thread on a 3 threads padding.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The small spots are made of\u00a0tiny straight stitches\u00a03 threads\u00a0for the large strawberries\u00a0and 2 threads\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0small ones.\u00a0(don’t pull the thread too tight to prevent the spots to\u00a0disappear in the strawberries).<\/span><\/h4>\n

The sepals are embroidered with double cast-on stitch\u00a01 thread\u00a0for the large strawberries\u00a0and with lazy daisy stitch 2 threads\u00a0for the small ones.<\/span><\/h4>\n

For the stems and the sepals, we used\u00a0House of Embroidery varigated stranded cotton Forest 54BC. For\u00a0the strawberries we used\u00a0DMC floss cotton 666, 321, 816 and\u00a0165 for the spots.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The petals are embroidered with blanket stitch\u00a02 threads. Add\u00a03 straight stitches\u00a02 threads radiating towards the center with 2 threads\u00a0in each petal.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The centers are embroidered with French knots\u00a02 threads\u00a0and 2 wraps.<\/span><\/h4>\n

For that flower, we used\u00a0DMC floss cotton B5200 and\u00a0Color Variations 4075.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The top of each petal is embroidered with blanket stitch\u00a01 thread. Then, working to\u00a0the base of the petal, add\u00a03 ” rows” of long and short stitch of\u00a03 different colors\u00a0also with 1 thread.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The centers are embroidered with satin stitch 1 thread. I added some straight stitches with 1 thread of the same color as used in\u00a0the center to the edge of the petals to enhance depth.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The violet flowers are embroidered with\u00a0DMC floss cotton 550, 327, 209, 917 and\u00a0B5200.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The blue\u00a0flowers are embroidered with\u00a0DMC floss cotton 3746, 3747,\u00a0155, 939 and\u00a0B5200.<\/span><\/h4>\n
