The purpose of this series of summer articles is to show how to make a unique and personal embroidery starting from a simple black and white drawing.<\/span><\/h4>\n

As I really like adult coloring pages, which have been so fashionable for quite some time now, I was inspired for this work, from a drawing taken from a book by Johanna Basford<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She is a well-known artist whose numerous publications have all been very successful. I chose a floral motif published in her latest album “World of Flowers”<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h4>\n

I will first color this drawing, taking inspiration from a color palette reflecting the “ambiance” that I want to give to my embroidery.<\/span><\/h4>\n

You will find a whole series of color palettes on Pinterest<\/span><\/a> which will certainly inspire you in the realization of your personal creation.<\/span><\/h4>\n

To guide you in this project, I used 2 very different colored atmospheres. However, the goal of this presentation is not that you reproduce my work to the letter but that you take advantage of the explanations to get started in a personal creative work.<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Hereafter I will expose in a few words, the progress of the project. It will be the subject of several articles.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Today you will have to choose a color palette that inspires you, color the design, and depending on your choice, you will have to determine the series of DMC stranded cotton threads that you are going to use for embroidery.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Then we will start to embroider.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Using two different designs, I will show you how to use the basic embroidery stitches according to the shapes to fill when you are left to yourself without a model to “copy”. You will see, it is easy and fun.<\/span><\/h4>\n

There you have it, I told you everything; I hope that many of you will participate in this summer recreation and that you will find pleasure in it. I chose a large palette of 17 colors but it is very likely that I make changes during the process depending on the rendering of the work.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Of course, I have a color chart of the DMC stranded cotton threads that I used to make my choice. I am well aware that each of you does not have one available so I advise you to gather all your threads and thus make the best possible choice.<\/span><\/h4>\n
